Tuna, Hmmmm! Should You?

By Bryon Zirker

Mercury is a toxin that is more common than you might
think.Traces of this deadly toxin can be found in seafood.
Landmark Laboratories did a study on 164 cans of tuna
from around the world.

What they discovered was that tuna from Latin America
specifically Ecuador and Mexico-had the highest concentration
level ofmercury. The reason is that fisherman in these areas
gather the oldestand largest tuna which have had longer
exposure to mercury.

The fact that tuna is a great source of needed protein and
omega fatty acids for good health. Do not be afraid to enjoy
tuna for fear of mercury.

Two companies that specialize in line caught, small, sashimi
grade albacore tuna are Vital Choice and Oregon choice. It
is cooked in the can which preserves the omega’s and it is
naturally low in mercury.
