Probiotics-Protection Against Disease
By Bryon Zirker
Probiotics is the bacteria found in yogurt,
buttermilk, and other cultured dairy products.
It is widely known that this bacteria can
improve gastrointestinal health.
Some late research has shown another way
these good-for-you germs guard against disease.
Research conducted by a group at the Northern
Ireland Centre for Food and Health discovered
that probiotics deactivate carcinogens that can,
and have damaged DNA. And by this deactivation,
they may help protect against one of the most
prevalent cancers, the deadly colon cancer.
Kefir is your best culinary source for the
cancer-fighting benefits of probiotics. (It
contains a very high concentration of
probiotics.) Steer clear of the flavored
varieties however.
They are loaded with sugars which ads up to a
lot more calories. Find the high-quality
probiotic supplement(which states "live and
active" some where on the label) to get the
maximum beneficial bacteria per serving,
calorie- and sugar-free.
