Bad Breakfast Or No Breakfast?

By Bryon Zirker

In the UK an advertisement run by Kellogs was withdrawn.
The advertisement made claims that children who ate a bowl
of Corn Flakes were 9 percent more alert than children who
ate nothing for breakfast.

This scientific assertion was made based on 60 children who
had Kellogs cereal for breakfast compared to 30 children who
ate nothing for breakfast.

The children’s mothers did the measuring. (I guess the
measure would be 0=dead and you go up from that.)
Keep in mind that any breakfast will raise a childs (or anyone’s)
energy and concentration.

Obviously eating nothing for breakfast will not. A high glycemic
breakfast such as Corn Flakes is unhealthy and the rise in
alertness will disappear soon when the sugar high wears off.

Eating healthier is very important, an alternative balanced
breakfast will be rich in protein and healthy fats. Eat a breakfast
of eggs scrambled with veggies, cottage cheese or yogurt with
berries, some nuts, a nice protein shake with fresh fruit.
